On June 6, 1944
They came ashore
Americans, British, Canadians
And small groups of others
The place was Normandy
The goal was victory
Less than a year later
That victory was achieved
And the European war was history
 
Almost eighty years later
Europe is again the scene of war
This time Russia is the story
As its leader Vladimir seeks
Past imagined glory
 
There is no Normandy
In this war
But there is the need
For forces of justice and freedom
To make a collective stand
Against Putin’s autocratic imperial tzardom
