What is standing in the way
Of a proper functioning of democracy?
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell
Who places party before country
 
Mitch’s ability to use
Arcane parliamentary rules
To stymie the will of the majority
Has a long and debilitating history
 
As much as anyone
Mitch has contributed
To the dead-weight polarization
That is paralyzing the nation
 
History will remember Mitch
Not as an American
But as a myopic
Morally-challenged Republican
