Addiction to the boob tube
Is usually innocent
But sometimes the consequences
Can be significant
 
Like if you’re the President
And an insurrection is underway
An insurrection incidentally
You put into play
 
Watching it on TV
Might be fun
But you have duties
To the nation
 
So you should have
Put down the remote
Ordered out the military
To protect Congress’ receipt
Of the Electoral College vote
 
Of course, if you think your duties
Are only to yourself
And not to the nation
Then dereliction of duty
Is a rare irritation
