REPEAL THE SECOND AMENDMENT

Most Americans agree
That sensible gun regulation
Should be the order of the day
But a weirdly worded bit
Of Constitutional language
Stands in the way
 
The Second Amendment begins
By noting the need for
“A well-regulated militia”
But then cartwheels through logic’s door
To a seemingly absolute right
“To keep and bear arms”
Which more than two centuries later
Is a non-sequitur
 
Today this verbal chaos
Has become a major impediment
To the very obvious need
For gun oversight development
 
So the anachronism that is
The Constitution’s Second Amendment
Should be repealed to permit
Needed regulatory updating and improvement
