REPEAL THE SECOND AMENDMENT

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

A poorly constructed sentence

With oddly placed commas and dubious meaning

Is a hurdle to the enactment

Of reasonable gun regulation

Dormant for much

Of the nation’s history

The Second Amendment was rediscovered

In the last half of the 20th century

The NRA pushed

The nebulous wording

As an absolute right

For gun toting

This interpretation has hindered

Reasonable regulation and restriction

Allowing the proliferation

Of weapons of mass destruction

So maybe the time has come

To eliminate a murky aberration

From the hallowed document

That defines our great nation
