Stock market heads south
Much to Republicans’ delight
Dems are left with more bad news
For the upcoming election fight
 
The party in power gets the blame
For negative economic fluctuations
That may not be fair but
It’s the way public opinion functions
 
If many citizens were not
So intellectually challenged
Their understanding of
The economy’s workings
Might be more nuanced
Than just simplistic feelings
